Centering

The villages of the world

are turned upside down.

No cataclysm: storm or fire or quake,

no bombs from any war,

could have destroyed us

the way we have crumbled from within,

from disrespect and greed.

Now in this smash of meaning,

drowning in despair,

let’s all do what the whales do:

dive deep for life,

to find within our central depths

the dreaming roots of peace.
