Fireweed Woman

I Am Asintmah, the Healer, Grandmother,

My hair blowing white downy fireweed fluff.

I come seeding the world.

I come where the earth is scorched with fire.

I spread My healing blanket of snow.

Under the earth I weave.

The winter earth moves with My motions.

With My teeth I strip the fibers.

With a spider's many arms

I weave My blanket.

My crawling relations

under the earth assist Me.

Green with stripe of white, nourishing,

tender shoots of spring come budding.

I weave spring's new life into being.

I stand up and shake out My blanket!

Moose, deer, bear, coyote,

rabbit, grouse, eagle, salmon:

all My Relations blanket the earth with life.

Proud and tall

My plumes of mauve crowd together!

I wear a cloak of summer's beauty

'round My shoulders when I'm  dancing.

Renewing the world,

singing life into being,

I Am Asintmah, the Healer, Grandmother,

My hair blowing white fireweed fluff.

I come re-seeding the world.
