Persephone Sings to Hekate: Dark Moon

I gave up everything:

I left my mother, left the light,

threw away my beauty, my life,

because I heard your siren call.

I searched for you in the face of my fears.

I followed the light at the end of the tunnel,

lit my torch from your torch,

let the flame consume me

in pain and loss and shame,

until I became that torch, a guide for others.

I found your jeweled caves,

dazzling beyond all reason,

the gems within, the diamond inner face of the real.

All riches seen in light are merely metaphors

for your halls of glory.

I sit on your numinous throne,

I speak with your prophetic voice of vision,

I radiate your power.  I amaze myself.

I am reborn as purest energy.

But where are you, dark mother, Hekate?

I am alone in your realm.

I know I cannot stay here forever.

I hear my mother calling me back to the light.

But I know I have a secret spirit home, a secret mother,

here in the dark within myself,

in you, the source, the sorceress!
